NEWSLETTER: OCTOBER, 2008

By the calendar—it's Fall. Up in the northeast it's starting to freeze and do the seasonal thing. The leaves will soon fall. All the stores have Halloween in mind with others spinning on toward Christmas.

In Tijuana we haven't much by way of seasonal change. The city is still the same mosaic of dirty brown and grey punctuated with confusing gang language spelled out by its colorful graffiti. The more fortunate kids that attend school add a new clean color as they stream through their Barrios in new sweaters, pants and shoes. There will be no colorful leaves dropping in the back treeless hillsides of Tijuana. The season is simply school.

We're through with the flexible summer change of camps, house building and Vacation Bible School programs. Now it's back to the yearly routine.

I finally got Aaron to get some photos of Vacation Bible School programs, Spectrum style (Aaron is generally so busy in the program he can't take pictures of the program). These photos were of a new area in which we are working, Barrio Pipila. We advertise our program a few days before and on the big day we cart in the equipment, set up a tent or two and go to it for a several day Bible centered program. This compliments our weekly Bible Club programs during the year.

It might interest you to know that the vast amount of true conversions to Christianity are made by kids thirteen and younger!

Yep! We go for the kids without an apology.

P.S. A special thanks for your gift! We're starting to feel a real financial pinch, as are our people. For all of us working across the border, Pastor von
