NEWSLETTER: SEPTEMBER, 2007
Summer signals several changes. More groups from the U.S. come to visit us to help in our ministry. Longer daylight hours means more house-building and our evening Bible Clubs change to daytime Vacation Bible schools. True to our philosophy, we go to the kids in each of the eight barrios in which we work. Our teams drive their trucks, complete with rolled up tents, generator and PA system out to the dry barren hillsides of Lazaro Cardinas, or to the closer, old condemned apartment community of Pana. Then, down to center city, where we set up curbside programs in the infamous "Zona" (Tijuana's red light district). In each location there are loads of kids waiting. And kids are what we are all about. Our VBS programs include games, crafts, lively singing, animated stories and a Gospel message. Often, we serve food and drinks to the hungry, thirsty kids. Paul, John and their crew put a double dose of energy into July and August. This is another Spectrum program you make possible here in Tijuana. We, along with more than a thousand kids, say a big "THANK YOU!” Hopefully, these photos will give you an idea of our VBS ministry.
Again, thanks for your part in making all of these programs possible. Into the program! Von, for all of us working here in Tijuana. |
