  • "ACROSS THE WIRE"

This best selling paperback has us as part of the story. You might want to read it. In the early days, the author, Luis Alberto Urrea, was my interpreter. He and I worked many barrios in Tijuana together for several years. The book was written using the back drop of barrio Pana America, a poor and dangerous barrio we still serve in. Pana, as we call it, was located at the top of the original Tijuana dump.

"Across the Wire" is a well read book. However I would caution you that this is a secular book with true stories, The language is as dirty and coarse as the people who lived and worked the stinking dump. Unfortunately things haven't changed much. And Negra and Pana are still there.
